Duke Energy service transfer

Duke Energy service transfer or what is known simply as “Moving” is a very easy step. You must make sure you have everything is ready before you start the process.

You can decide to visit any Duke Energy service center to start the process or you can easily start the process from the comfort of your home. Before you start the process, there are a few things you must put in place.

What you need for Duke Energy service transfer to work

  • Take note of your current address where you are moving out. Also, make sure you pay any outstanding balance that must be paid.
  • Again, take note of the new address you are moving into as well. If there are any balances that must be paid over there, pay them before you start the Duke Energy service transfer.
  • You must have your Social Security Number ready. Make sure there are no security freezes or any other issues with your Social Security Number.
  • You must also make sure the new location is within the Duke Energy service area. If it is outside Duke Energy’s coverage area, then you can not transfer your service.

If you have all of these things ready, then you can start the actual process online or by visiting any Duke Energy service center.

The procedure

The process is very similar to that of starting a new service with Duke Energy. However, there is a slight change in the process along the way so follow my lead.

  • Click on “Start Stop & Move” from the navigation bar and select “Request start or stop” from the dropdown menu.
  • For Duke Energy service transfer, click on “Move Service” from the three options available.
