You also get to know about the cause of the outage, the estimated restoration time, and the status of the restoration crew.

This Duke Energy outage alert feature is available for interested customers to sign up. When registered, you will receive a notification via text, voice message, or by email whenever there is an outage in your area.

You can follow the procedure below to register for this service by texting REG to 57801. You can also text STOP to cancel or visit duke-energy.com/outages/alerts to manage your alerts.

Duke Energy power outage reporting

There are systems in place for Duke Energy power outage reporting. You can report a power outage as it happens.

You can report a power outage by simply texting OUT to 57801 or calling 800 228 8485. The Duke Energy mobile app also has an option for reporting a power outage.

Power outage safety things are very important. Your safety and the safety of your business are very important so you must take note of it.

After storm
If you see a fallen Duke Energy power line, do not touch it or anything in contact with it. Report the issue to Duke Energy and also try to keep others away until the crew arrives to fix it.

FDA Food and water safety
You must know the proper food and water safety precautions to take before, during, and after a power outage. Find the FDA food and water safety measures on the FDA website.

Damaged meters
Avoid any form of contact with damaged meters or lines as they might be still energized. You must also caution others from getting in contact with it till the Duke Energy crew arrives to fix it.

Generators
Make sure your standby emergency generator is installed by experts following the manufacturer’s manual.
You must not plug your generator into your fuse box or meter box. This could pose a hazardous threat to utility line workers.
